Class of 2020 Updates

Updated: May 26, 2020

We are grateful to all of our graduates and families that participated in our survey to help us determine how we might proceed with plans to honor our 2020 JCCHS graduates.  We were disappointed when it became evident that current state and district guidelines would not allow us to conduct a traditional graduation ceremony on June 12, 2020.  As we analyzed the information provided from the survey of our graduates, we found that the responses were split 50/50.  Therefore, we have decided to provide our graduates and their families with two options to consider. Please click here to view options.

Hello Seniors!

If money is left on your lunch account, that balance will be transferred to the account of your sibling (s). If you don’t have a sibling in the school system, that balance will be mailed to you. Expect checks to arrive within 3-4 weeks. If you have questions about this process, please reach out to Mary Helen Richardson (mrichardson@jcss.us) or Mistne Pruitt (mmpruitt@jcss.us).

Seniors,
We still have several students who have not submitted the Graduation Confirmation Form. You have now missed the deadline and are in danger of not being able to participate in the graduation ceremony. If you don’t return this form, you will not be allowed to participate in the Senior Lunch, graduation practice, or the graduation ceremony. Please check your school email account for the form link. If you are not planning to participate in the graduation ceremony and just want to pick up your diploma from the front office, please email Mrs. Powers at apowers@jcss.us.
Thank you so much!

The Jackson County School System will not be able to hold traditional high school ceremonies on the originally planned dates of May 21 for East Jackson Comprehensive High School and May 22 for Jackson County Comprehensive High School.

Both schools are committed to providing a full graduation experience for the Class of 2020 and will notify students and families no later than May 18 if plans for JCCHS on June 12 and EJCHS on June 13 can be confirmed.

We are following guidance provided by state authorities. Look for details from each high school on special plans for a “modified senior walk (ride)” to mark the special day.

Seniors can pick up their cap/gown and yearbook on Monday, May 4, 2020, from 2:30-4:00 pm. Please keep in mind social distancing protocols. Students should not carpool together unless they live in the same household. Students should not meet in-person after the distribution to socialize. If you or someone in your household is sick, PLEASE STAY HOME! It is very important for everyone to read the cap/gown & yearbook distribution procedures document before arriving at the school.

Seniors, please read through the Senior Newsletter carefully as there is a lot of important information in it. Some items in the newsletter are required by seniors in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. We will be meeting at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to go over the newsletter and answer questions. If you missed the senior meeting, click here to view the recording.
