Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) Booster

Per the Georgia Department of Public Health, effective July 1, 2021, children 16 years of age and older, who are entering the 11th grade, must have received one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4). This is required unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday. This requirement is for all incoming 11th graders and students 16 years or older for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. If your child is not 16 when he/she enters the 11th grade the MCV4 booster dose will not be due until their 16th birthday. Once your child turns 16 years of age, they must receive the MCV4 to stay enrolled during the current school year. Please have your healthcare provider sign off on your child’s immunization form that they have received the MCV4 booster. This form is available at your healthcare provider’s office and will need to be submitted to the JCHS Nurse Clinic by the beginning of school next year.

If you have any questions about the meningococcal vaccines required by the Georgia Department of Public Health, please contact your healthcare provider.
